It’s no surprise that home design has made some pretty drastic changes over the years; as our lifestyles change, so do our homes. A hundred years ago, homes had parlours for greeting and entertaining guests, as it was unconventional to have visitors inside the rest of your home. Today it’s just the opposite. Parlours have disappeared from floor plans altogether, and now the main living space is open concept and your guests enjoy your home as you do.
Part of the excitement in building your own custom home is the potential for unique and personalized spaces that are built just for you. Things like your dream backyard deck with built-in outdoor kitchen, maybe with a stone pizza oven, a fully equipped workshop in your triple-car garage, or the best thing yet — an epic sports-themed man cave in your wide-open basement space.
Let’s explore what we can do to create the ultimate sports arena in your own home.
At Augusta Homes, we take the time to get to know you, because building a home you'll love is just as important to us as it is to you. That's also why we make sure everyone on our team shares that same passion. So, we thought you might like to get to know us a little better, too.
In our first Behind the Scene With The Augusta Team post, we'll introduce you to our site superintendent, Greg Hawkes!
Smart technology is popping up everywhere in today’s homes. It started out with your thermostat, but now it’s moving into alarm systems, window coverings, even your refrigerator. Soon, your new home will be as technologically advanced as a spacecraft — okay, maybe not that advanced but it will certainly feel that way.
There are so many ways to decorate your home with paint colours, fabrics, furniture styles, and just the right amount of décor items here and there. But what do we do about those walls? Artwork has been a long-standing tradition in our homes, but the way artwork is hung has definitely progressed over the years. We are no longer simply lining it all up in a row, or placing the standard oversized painting over the sofa. Today we're hanging art in such a way that we are making art out of the artwork.
When you think of your ensuite vanity — wait, you probably don’t think too much of your ensuite vanity. This functional piece of furniture in your personal bathroom might simply be a place to put your toothbrush, but it can be so much more. Outside of possibly your spectacular shower, your vanity is truly the focal point of the room, and as such, it can be much more than a surface for your toiletries. Using your ensuite vanity can be the best part of your day if done correctly.
