Behind the Scene With The Augusta Team: Greg Hawkes Featured imageAt Augusta Homes, we take the time to get to know you, because building a home you'll love is just as important to us as it is to you. That's also why we make sure everyone on our team shares that same passion. So, we thought you might like to get to know us a little better, too.

In our first Behind the Scene With The Augusta Team post, we'll introduce you to our site superintendent, Greg Hawkes!

Behind the Scene With The Augusta Team: Greg Hawkes image1. What do you do? What are the duties/functions/responsibilities of your job?

I am responsible for taking our client’s dream from paper to reality. Working with numerous companies, skilled trades people, products and unique requests, I orchestrate the movement and installation of products to culminate in what we at Augusta believe are some of Calgary’s most beautiful homes.

With the timing of products and people in an open air environment, it’s amazing the efforts on everyone’s part, including our client, to bring a vision to life. It’s inspirational to work beside such dedicated people and have the opportunity to exchange ideas and explain the intricacies of construction to our clients.

2. What do you like most about your job?

This best part of my job is seeing the finished product after working on the project for a few months. Then, it's most certainly the excitement of the client when presenting them the keys to their new home.

Throughout the process meeting and speaking with the client, it brings you closer to them. You learn what's really important for them to have in their home, and can ensure them that when the build is complete, we will have met or exceeded their expectations. It makes my day when we get an email or card from the client and they gush about their new home.

3. How do you think your colleagues would describe you?

I would like to think they would say I pay close attention to the details, and am attentive and dedicated to making our client happy. I keep a close hand on my projects as it’s a lot easier to do things once than have people return to complete or fix errors. I like to see things move in a logistical fashion; it also keeps the client happy to see the process organized.

4. If you were a cartoon character, which would you be and why?

Clark Kent! Not Superman but Clark. I'm happy to be in the background doing my job to the best of my abilities and let the rest of the team shine in the spotlight.

5. What would be your personal motto?

Keep it simple, don't overthink it. KISS, ha. Yes, this job can have its challenges, but basically, homes have been built for thousands of years. I like to say “it’s just twigs and mud,” we just do a lot better job of it today.

6. What do you want people to know most about Augusta Homes?

Augusta builds a great quality home, but it’s more than just the house, it’s the people. That's to say the suppliers (some of whom get to meet and select product with the client), the tradespeople who assemble the hundreds of products, and most importantly, the client. If not for them, I wouldn’t have a job.

Augusta Fine Homes is about building a relationship and keeping you as a customer for life. We endeavour to build you not only the home of your dreams but hopefully a home you will be proud to enjoy with your family and friends for a lifetime.
