Creating a Gamer's Cave Men Gaming imageWe won't assume this is just a man's cave, because there are plenty of women gamers out there (yes, they do exist!)

If you're a gamer, you know that having the ultimate video game setup is the only way to blow up the baddies in style. We've got some ideas that can make your game cave the most epic space in the house.

Creating a Gamer's Cave Couple Gaming imageThe Biggest TV Ever

Whether you’re a seasoned PC gamer or a console junkie, you're going to need an enormous, 4K TV. Most modern games today are designed for 4K, so if you want the ultimate experience, you're going to want to max out that resolution.

If you've played a game that's built for 4K on anything less, once you switch, your mind will be entirely blown by the depth of clarity, colour, and crisp movement you experience. It becomes a whole new world with the right equipment.

When you're designing your gamer cave, be sure to consider where this monster TV will be mounted so you can ensure the proper backing is installed at framing. You're going to want the ability to hold a lot of weight on the wall.

Console Wall of Fame

If you're a console junkie, no doubt you have collected these machines for decades. You have every version of Nintendo, PlayStation, Atari, and if you're really serious, you might have a Magnavox Odyssey collecting dust somewhere.

Of course, you're going to want to not only display your epic collection, but you'll likely want to hook a bunch of them up all at once. The choice is yours when you decide it's game time.

When designing your gamer cave with your builder, think about including built-in cabinetry specially designed to hold your prized consoles. Don't forget about the electrical; you'll want to have the proper wiring in place to handle this many machines plugged in all at once, otherwise, you could end up with a fire hazard on your hands.

If you have collections of games, memorabilia, collectables, or other such items you want to display, you can have custom cabinetry and shelving designed especially for these displays. Consider glass towers as well with lighting to shine a spotlight on your favourite items.

Lighting (or Lack Thereof)

The best game spaces are dark, allowing the vibrant colour and depth of your games to be crystal clear. Design your game space to have minimal windows (you have to have at least one for fire safety), and consider black-out window coverings to block out any residual light. For your lighting, install high-end custom lighting with dimmers so you can control how much light comes in at any time of the day.

Power of the Sun

Your gamer cave setup could be so intense, it will use a lot of power to keep running. There's a great solution available for powering your cave without impacting your electricity bill — solar panels.

Install just enough panels on your home to produce electricity for your cave. Not only will you be reducing your carbon footprint, but you'll save your hard earned money for keeping your video game collection up to date.

The Ultimate Battle

If you host LAN parties or competitions at your home, you might want to create the most epic battle setup you've ever seen. Have your builder wire in multiple TVs with the right amount and types of hookups, and set up rows of battle stations (comfy gaming chairs with controllers or space for computers).

Guaranteed your game cave will be the place to gather for your next LAN party. Don’t forget the snacks.

Wet Bar and Mini Fridge

Of course, no game cave is complete without convenient drinks and snacks. No one has time to go all the way up to the kitchen. Build in a wet bar, complete with refrigerator and sink, and you can keep yourself nourished and hydrated for those marathon gaming sessions.

Your gamer cave can ultimately be anything you need it to be. Depending on the type of games you play, there are several ways your builder can help you set up your dream space and maximize space in your basement

The possibilities really are virtually endless when it comes to creating a custom space in your basement. Think of your interests; if you're a sports fan, you may want to create a sports themed man cave. Your custom home can be as unique as you are, all you need to do is ask.
