While land developers break ground on new estate communities in and around Calgary, you may wonder how disconnected they are from the city's established infrastructure. The truth is, you'll be surprised to know the city's newest estate neighbourhoods are very accessible - with commute times to both downtown and the airport even shorter than those closer to the heart of the city.
For example, The Point in Patterson Heights rests in west Calgary, very close to downtown. Just west of Sarcee Trail SW, a variety of routes are available to take you into the city's centre, the shortest being only 14 minutes via Bow Trail SW. Meanwhile, your commute to the airport conveniently circumvents the entire city. With quick access to Stoney Trail NW, you'll reach the terminal in only 38 minutes. City centre and airport aside, The Point also boasts easy access to other major routes such as the Trans Canada and Crowchild Trail.
Cooper’s Crossing, located in Airdrie, also provides a quick and convenient commute to the airport. Only 19 minutes away via the QEII highway, this peaceful community is an ideal location if you fly often. Via the same route, downtown is also just 26 minutes away. Not to mention, the several major shopping hubs including CrossIron Mills Outlet Mall.
Harmony, located west of Calgary on Highway 1, is a convenient half-hour commute to downtown. This estate community offers the best of both worlds as you can enjoy a rural lifestyle, yet gain easy access to all major city amenities (including downtown). By using major routes and bypassing many slower traffic areas, this enables smoother travel. Even the airport is accessible via Stoney Trail NW; just take Highway 1 and slip around the north end of the city for an efficient half-hour drive to the terminal.
Another community worth mentioning is Artesia, to the city's south. This new estate neighbourhood is accessible via the QEII; from there it's a 25-minute commute to downtown via Deerfoot Trail. With this streamlined route, you can evade nearly every traffic light on your way to work. Another quick option (and far less stressful) is to use Calgary Transit’s Park and Ride service. From the Somerset-Bridlewood LRT Station, you can park your car and take the 27-minute ride to downtown.
Dressage Silverado, off Highway 22x on the south side of Calgary, also offers a great Park and Ride option. Choose from free or reserved parking at Shawnessy LRT Station and take a single 30-minute transit route to downtown Calgary. If you prefer to drive, take Deerfoot or Macleod Trail for a similar commute time. Getting to the airport from Dressage is also super easy. Simply take Stoney Trail on the east side of Calgary to avoid all city traffic and arrive at the airport in just over a half-hour.
Of the many elements in Calgary’s newest estate communities, accessibility is a priority. With close proximity to major arterial roads and amenities, you'll never have to sacrifice convenience for luxury living.
